House of The Pacheco
The house that stands against the palace of the Mendoza stands on the place where the old Court, the council seat and the prison used to be. It was built by one of the wealthiest men in the city after the War of Independence: Alonso Segundo Pacheco. It is a classical style house with three floors.
The first one shows a line of openings which end in curved pediments; the second one with triangular pediments and the last one, like attics, with simple lintel windows. It ends in a terrace which is decorated with acroterions shaped like balls. On the inside, the important thing to see is the neo-Mudejar courtyard from the beginning of the 20th century.
Today it houses the Mérida Palace Hotel.
