Círculo Emeritense

Plaza de España

The new local bourgeois society, sprung from the success of the railway, and the traditional landowning families created the Mérida Circle Society. For their headquarters, they ordered a classical building on the square which was finished in 1867 as you can read on an inscription embedded in the impediment surrounded by acroterions on top of the second part of the building.
